The University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Instructional Development & Distance Education (CIDDE) offers distance learners flexibility in where and when course-specific supervised exams are administered. Testing for courses offered through PittOnline is coordinated from the CIDDE Testing Center, 824 Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Avenue, on the Oakland campus. Students can elect to take supervised exams in Oakland or at any one of 10 off-campus testing sites. To do so, please complete a test site selection form. This testing program offers the following advantages:
- Testing administrators work with instructional designers to ensure that exam administration information reflects course revisions for specific terms.
- Exams are organized and delivered to the 10 off-campus testing sites each term for students who have selected an off-campus site.
- Computer-Assisted Testing System (CATS) is available for most courses at the Oakland center and some of the off-campus sites. This provides students with immediate scoring of objective questions and essay-type questions are sent to instructors for grading. The testing information can be electronically accessed instantly and sent to instructors by testing administrators.
