Building a Bridge Between Experience and Academics
A CIDDE instructional designer helped me to build a bridge to the other side. With her help, I have converted my hopes for student learning into measurable learning objectives. Rather than lecturing for 15 weeks, each class has a lesson plan that will use the reading assignments to guide students through a process of self/collective learning, reflection and insight. The required readings for the course are arranged in a graduated sequence, and the Blackboard technology will make it much more easy to distribute copies of the reading materials and communicate with the class. As a result of this process, I now have a solid basis for composing the testing instruments and the knowledge of how to develop relevant tests. Thanks to CIDDE’s instructional design and instructional technology staff, I am teaching the course with confidence that the students will actually learn from my experiences and the materials that I have developed.
