Faculty Attend Summer Instructional Development Institute 2003This year’s Summer Instructional Development Institute provided University of Pittsburgh faculty with a variety of workshops. At one successful event on May 9, Writing & Speaking Across the Curriculum, faculty presenters from Arts & Sciences shared strategies they have found to be effective. Presenters for this workshop included: James Seitz, English; Peter Simonson, Communications; Trudy Bayer, Communications; Shirley Cassing, Economics; Lydia Daniels, Bio Sciences; and Mark Collins, Geology.
Twenty faculty participated in course development/revision as they worked individually with CIDDE instructional designers during the summer months. Fourteen faculty completed Course Development Using Blackboard, a four-day workshop in June which provided hands-on instruction in using the latest version of Blackboard, Pitt’s Web-based course management system.
