Library System Provides Delivery Service

The University Library System (ULS) has announced a new document delivery service for faculty called “Libraries to Go: Delivery Services of the ULS.”

Utilizing student couriers, this free service provides convenient access to library materials for University of Pittsburgh faculty. Faculty will be able to request that books be delivered to their Pittsburgh campus offices (within certain boundaries) or to any Pittsburgh campus ULS library. This delivery service is extended to all faculty members with offices on the Pittsburgh campus, including the faculties of law and the health sciences. Journal articles will be delivered electronically to email accounts.

Requests can be made for books and for copies of journal articles located in all Pittsburgh campus libraries except for the Health Sciences Library System (HSLS) and law libraries. Books will be delivered to Pittsburgh campus offices or to Pittsburgh campus ULS libraries. Journal articles will only be delivered electronically.

Delivery can be expected within 1-2 business days after placing the request. Faculty members may place up to five requests a day.

While a signature is required for all deliveries, faculty members may designate a graduate student or staff member as their proxy to receive the material by completing the online Proxy Agreement Form (http://www.library.pitt.edu:9696/services/lib2go.html). This proxy agreement must be renewed each term. The faculty member is responsible for all materials charged to his or her library account.

For more information regarding the procedures and step-by-step instructions for placing requests, visit Libraries to Go on the Web at: http://www.library.pitt.edu:9696/services/lib2go.html

For assistance with any document delivery questions, please send email to libs2go@library.pitt.edu
