Summer Instructional Development Institute 2002

At one of the well-attended workshops offered during the 2002 Summer Instructional Development Institute for Faculty (SIDI), Carol Baker, OMETCarol Baker, director of the Office of Measurement & Evaluation of Teaching, elaborates on ways to design effective classroom tests. At another of these successful workshops, Peter Simonson, Communication, shares strategies to engage students in larger classes. Other presenters in the workshop Teaching Larger Classes included Chandralekha Singh, Physics and Astronomy; Lu-in Wang, Law; David DeJong, Economics; Joe Grabowski, Peter Simonson, CommunicationChemistry; Georgine Materniak, Learning Skills Center; Beverly Michael, Mathematics; and Catherine Palmer, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. In addition to the estimated 125 faculty who attended workshops, another 30 participated in individual consultations with instructional designers from the Center for Instructional Development & Distance Education (CIDDE) offered as part of SIDI.
