Faculty Development
Faculty attend a workshop in CIDDE's Educational Technology Lab.
At the University of Pittsburgh, faculty development refers to events, programs, workshops, and any other opportunities to develop new skills in teaching and learning which focus on the individual faculty member. Faculty development specialists at CIDDE provide consultation on teaching, including class organization, course development and revision, evaluation of students, in-class presentation skills, making use of instructional technologies, questioning and all aspects of design and presentation that enhance teaching at the University. We also advise faculty on other aspects of teacher/student interaction, such as advising, tutoring, discipline policies, and administration. We provide confidential, one-on-one services and support to all University of Pittsburgh faculty, as well as coordinating a number of annual events sponsored by the Office of the Provost, including: New Faculty Orientation, Summer Instructional Development Institute, and the Faculty Diversity Seminar.
If you have questions or would like to schedule a consultation, please contact CIDDE staff at teaching@pitt.edu.
