Overview
Designing and delivering your course will involve many decisions and questions. The resources included here will help get you started.
Blended methods accommodates a variety of teaching strategies, including:
- Face-to-face
- Blended synchronous (in-person and remote students participating simultaneously in face-to-face class sessions)
- Asynchronous online
- Synchronous online
The method, or mix of methods, that is most appropriate will depend on whether a classroom is available, whether the classroom can accommodate all registered students, whether some students will be participating remotely, and whether remote students are in time zones that are compatible with blended synchronous and synchronous online delivery formats.

- Use mostly asynchronous methods

Classroom Can Accommodate All Students
All Students Time Zone Compatible
- Face-to-face, blended synchronous, and online
- Hold face-to-face sessions with those students able to physically attend
- Use blended synchronous approach to allow students who are unable to physically attend to participate in face-to face sessions remotely
- Use asynchronous and synchronous online methods, as appropriate to support face-to-face session.
Some Students Time Zone Incompatible
- Face-to-face, blended synchronous, and online
- Hold face-to-face sessions with those students able to physically attend
- Use blended synchronous approach to allow students who are unable to physically attend to participate in face-to face sessions remotely
- Use recorded face-to-face class sessions for students who are time-zone incompatible

Classroom Accommodate Cohorts of Students (Split Class)

- Hold face-to-face session with a rotating subset of students, who are able to physically attend
- Use blended synchronous approach to allow rotating cohorts and other students who are unable to physically attend to participate in face-to face sessions remotely
- Use asynchronous and synchronous online methods, as appropriate to support face-to-face session

- Face-to-face, blended synchronous, and online
