Photo CD

A photo-cd is a special type of cd-rom that allows for the storage of images. Each image is stored in five different sizes, that range from a 128x192 thumbnail to a 2048x3072 full-size image. A typical photo-cd user would be someone who needs to archive images for later retrieval and manipulation. Photo-cd offers a major advantage over traditional film/negative processes in-that, which photo-cd there is no degradation of the image over time. It can be considered "permanent" storage.
