What is Interactive Television?

Interactive Television (ITV) allows the visual and verbal information from one classroom to be transmitted to another classroom located at a distance. Two-way audio and two-way video communication enable an instructor at one location (the home site) to teach or present to students simultaneously at one or more locations–the far site classroom(s). ITV affords the opportunity for people to participate in mutual classes even though they may be separated by miles. Skill is needed to communicate information in a way that benefits all students.   For more information on teaching with ITV, visit the Faculty Development ITV web pages. Multipoint conferencing services allow from 2 to 8 sites to connect  and interact simultaneously.
