The University of Pittsburgh is committed to providing a classroom environment that enhances the teaching and learning experience. To that end, the University builds state-of-the-practice technology into its new classrooms, renovates its older classrooms to incorporate technology, and provides media services to non-renovated rooms. The classroom renovations include new seating, acoustic treatment and lighting, and an array of instructional technologies, such as large screen video and data displays, Internet access, and campus telephones.
Classroom technology and renovation is supported by the Office of the Provost, and managed by the Provost’s Classroom Management Team chaired by the University Registrar, Dr. Samuel D. Conte (412-624-7600 or sdconte@pitt.edu).
If a particular classroom does not contain the desired technology, the Instructional Media Services (IMS) group may be able to deliver or provide that technology. IMS also can provide training to use a media enhanced classroom or any instructional technology. Demonstrations are available in the classroom or at the IMS office at B-10 Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260. Contact IMS at 412-648-7240 or mediareq@pitt.edu.
