Notes about this service:
- Please submit your request at least one week before your event.
- Upon submission of your request, you will receive an automated e-mail response. This response does not guarantee service. Classroom Services will continue to assign operators up to 24 hours before the requested date of your event in order to provide the most comprehensive coverage possible.
- Scheduling is prioritized based on factors such as date and complexity of request, availability of staff, and physical disabilities, among others.
- “Confirmations of staff availability” are delivered via Pitt email. If you receive a “No Staff Available” notice, Classroom Services offers several other options to ensure that you will have the necessary technology for your class.
All faculty and student customers (hereafter referred to as “patrons”) who secure (borrow) equipment from Classroom Services agree to abide by the following terms and conditions: Patrons are responsible for the physical condition and security of equipment borrowed from Classroom Services under their name. This includes, but is not limited to, laptop computers, cables, remote controls, bags, and any accessories. The patron is only responsible for equipment specified at the time of pick-up or delivery. The patron will be charged for any items that are lost or damaged during the rental period; replacement fees will be determined by Classroom Services. If equipment is not returned on or before the specified date, a late fee of $5 per day will be charged. This fee will be charged to the department account of the patron as a lump sum when the equipment is returned to Classroom Services. The patron accepts responsibility for the general care, upkeep, and overall maintenance of all items included in their loan. If cosmetic damage is incurred which directly affects the ability of Classroom Services to return the equipment to regular circulation, a fee will be assessed to cover the additional labor involved in cleaning and/or repairing the damage, up to and including the cost of replacing the item if it is deemed unusable. Such damage may include, but is not limited to: food and liquid spills, excessive dirt/grime, inks, paints, and other stains, cracks in the casing, or damage to any other included accessory.
Classroom Services PCs are not password protected; patrons may download any software that they possess a legal license for, or that is distributed free of charge. Classroom Services will not add additional software upon request. Classroom Services will not retain any added software or files after a PC has been returned, nor reserve specific PCs for loans or deliveries. Classroom Services is not responsible for the integrity of any data stored on a PC while on loan to a patron.
